About us?
We are a shelter located in the mountains of Lenguazaque, we give second chances to dogs and cats; we rehabilitate, sterilize and find homes for our animals. We also permanently welcome several puppies to give them the best possible life after their past on the streets.
Vision
Raise awareness, especially in the municipality of Lenguazaque and other towns, about the respect and adequate conditions that animals require, motivating more people to help and improve the treatment that we as a society have towards them. The foregoing, providing services such as sterilization days, vaccination and advice for responsible pet ownership in the municipality. Additionally, we hope to improve our facilities every day, always thinking of our animals.
We work for the mountains:
History of the refuge
Actions in favor of animals arose in March 2020 with the ComeDogs initiative that sought to feed animals in street conditions during the pandemic. Subsequently, the page named Adopciónes Lenguazaque; was created through which the first shelter would be created in a borrowed place and with about 50 square meters. In January 2021 we moved to what would be our official headquarters today in the village of El Resguardo, from there, we have worked tirelessly on the weekends to improve the infrastructure and welfare of the animals, they have an area of many square meters to live together, It is a paradise that receives a lot of sunlight and also has natural spaces where animals can take walks.
Why the need to have a shelter?
In the geographical area where we are, there are large population rates of stray fauna, dogs and cats that are not cared for and also their reproduction is not controlled. In addition, the rate of cases of abuse and abandonment is high, there is no awareness about the role that animals should have in our society and the respect that we must have towards them. These reasons, mainly in addition to the joy of knowing that their lives can be transformed, made us decide to create the shelter and later to be an established foundation.
